The anti-Trump Lincoln Project has written a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting the Department of Justice open an investigation into former President Donald Trump and his alleged promise of a Cabinet appointment for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“Today we formally requested that the DOJ open an investigation into Trump,” The Lincoln Project posted on X Friday. The organization wants the agency to discern whether Trump violated federal law “by promising to appoint, or support for appointment, RFK Jr. to a public office in exchange for his endorsement.”
On Aug. 14, The Washington Post reported that according to Kennedy campaign officials, the then-independent presidential candidate had sought a meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris to discuss the possibility of serving in her administration — perhaps on her Cabinet — if he were to endorse her, but she did not respond.
